"What is stronger in the Mother / Daughter relationship? Love or loathing?"
BEST ORIGINAL SCRIPT - The Bay Area Theatre Critic's Circle Award, San Francisco
"OKRA is a big fat favorable hit!" - Times Picayune
"Okra is long on charm, a crowd pleaser…a down-home, crab boil-flavored knockabout." - Gambit Weekly
"Okra doesn't only make you see & hear it's characters, we smell & sometimes taste them to." - The San Francisco Chronicle
What happens when Lillian Bourgeois smothers her daughters with vinegar and love? They cook up hilarious dreams and schemes to stop their mama from throwing their inheritance down the video poker machine. This tasty Cajun comedy has more twists and turns then an alligator in a death roll. With food playing an important supporting role, the play allows the audience to savor the smell of coffee, shrimp Creole and gumbo cooked on stage.
